Carl Pollard – President


Overseeing the day to day business operations, Carl has facilitated a number of roles within the fire protection industry while overseeing fire alarm and sprinkler operations.

His most recent roles include:

  • Regional Operations Manager – Western Australia
  • Sprinkler Operations Manager – Southern Alberta
  • Project Manager for the Eighth Avenue Place East Tower

Carl also served on the Calgary Construction Association’s Board of Directors as the representative for the Canadian Automatic Sprinkler Association.

With more than 15 years experience in the fire industry, Carl is a qualified fire sprinkler fitter and holds a diploma in Project Management, with vast experience in varying scopes, sizes, and complexity of projects. He is a strong asset for partner customers in the cost effective planning and execution of projects.

Matthew Neil – Service Manager


Responsible for all Legacy Fire Protection Inc’s service and inspection business, Matt is a PMP certified project manager and an active member of PMI (Project Management Institute). Also a qualified Journeyman Sprinkler Systems Installer, Matt has extensive experience in the fire and life safety industry.

With more than 20 years experience in the fire industry, his roles have included:

  • Sprinkler Service Supervisor – Southern Alberta
  • Senior Project Manager
  • General Service Manager
  • Managing service teams of 50+ employees responsible for the delivery of all Fire Alarm, Fire Suppression, Fire Sprinkler, and Special hazard, installation, inspection/testing and maintenance activities.

Matt’s focus is always on the customer first, working closely with our customers to identify their needs and provide economical solutions for their fire and life safety needs.

Michael Towler – Fire Protection Designer Manager


Michael is responsible for overseeing all of Legacy Fire Protection Inc’s fire design & consulting. He is recognized by the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) as a Level III certified member in Fire Protection Engineering Technology.

Michael also provides a great resource for Clients in resolving potential conflicts with building code/site issues, fire protection requirements, and the AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) approval process.

He has represented the Canadian Automatic Sprinkler Association (CASA) Alberta Region as their Technical Committee Member since November 2011 and recently was elected in 2015 to serve on the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) as a Technical Committee Member for Residential Sprinkler Systems.

He has also been included three times in the National Fire Sprinkler Association (NFSA) Top Tech Competition representing Canada for demonstrating his knowledge in fire sprinkler design.

Along with a great attention to detail and ethical manner, Mike is an integral part of ensuring all wet, dry, deluge, and pre-action fire sprinkler systems are designed and site coordinated to the highest standards in life and building fire safety. With his wealth of knowledge and experience, Michael is great asset to have when it comes to serving your fire protection needs.

Kevin Close – Senior Estimator


Kevin brings more than 19 years experience in the fire industry and is the Senior Estimator responsible for the contract division of our business.

He is a Graduate of Seneca College as a Fire Protection Engineering Technician and holds a Certificate of Management Development from Cornell University.

With experience in many aspects of the business including Project Management, Estimating, Fire Alarm, Clean Agent Systems and Sprinkler Design, Kevin is also a qualified Journeyman Sprinkler fitter with experience in delivering both service and contract projects.

Due to this experience, he is well positioned to provide the estimating ability and the high level of client service that we pride ourselves on on and demand from all of our members.

Nathan Strom – Construction Operations Manager


Nathan Strom is our Construction Operations Manager responsible for overseeing our large contracts division from start to finish. Nathan is a PMP certified project manager with his most recent experience managing multiyear projects within the fire protection industry as regional project manager for a large multinational fire protection company.

Nathan’s background includes a BA from the University of Alberta as well as being a Red Seal Journeyman Sprinkler Systems Installer. The combination of Nathan’s 9+ years of fire industry experience allows him to effectively manage the various facets of our contracting department from estimating through execution.

Nathan strives to provide the best support for our construction team and to deliver practical solutions for our clients’ needs.
